THE IRISHMAN: !!NO SPOILERS!!

The Irishman: a movie under the direction of Martin Scorsese, and with the participation of nothing more and nothing less than Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Al Pacino as protagonists. Hearing these names, the words that come to mind are mastery and purity in the art of interpretation. Pacino made a name for himself in the category of criminal movies like Michael Corleone in “The Godfather”, and De Niro along with Joe Pesci surprised us and captivated us in “Goodfellas”, in addition to “Casino.” Years of experience in addition to admiration for these three great actors under the orders of one of the most acclaimed film directors, which Hollywood has provided, is one of the many features that attract the attention of this acclaimed film. We have to keep in mind that it is a movie based on real events but that certain issues that have made this story so striking are still unknown. However, one of the most important details to consider, is that this movie has a duration of three hours and twenty-nine minutes. In the last days, numerous articles have been written recommending to divide the film into three days, but it was the director Martin Scorsese himself who has denied such fallacies. Set in the 1950’s, the film recounts how a World War II veteran returns to his hometown of Philadelphia, eventually becoming the hitman of an organized crime family. Along with the main character (the Irish), other real characters that were involved in organized crime, such as Jimmy Hoffa, are revealed, or even the figure of the young JFK is mentioned before becoming president of the United States. Despite having an extraordinary cast, in addition to having a good script, photography, costumes and direction, the film has fallen short compared to the high expectations that the public expected. On the one hand, it is a film that becomes too long and above all it takes a long time to develop the plot and the action. On the other hand, being a gangsters movie you expect the scenes to be the same level as the Godfather or at least something similar. However, none of that is true, and even worse, the few murders they show do not cause any effect or emotion.
