Donnie Brasco, played by a young Johnny Deep, is introduced to the world of organized crime in the 1970’s in New York, due to his friendship with Benjamin Ruggiero, which is played by Al Pacino. From then on, the film shows how the gangsters of this era remained afloat and what was their operating mode in the face of competition and law enforcement. The friendship between Donnie and Benjamin grows stronger and stronger until they become loyal friends, since it is the character of Al Pacino who instructs Depp’s. What the plot reveals is that Donnie Brasco’s character is actually a coverage agent who works for the FBI called Joseph Pistone, with the goal of dismantling the entire criminal organization. Based on real events, this story becomes a pleasant film that the public really enjoys. It has a good cast, good dialogues and real scenarios in different streets of New York City. On the one hand, it has all the ingredients of a good gangster movie, in addition to having scenes that completely surprise viewers. On the other hand, it is a movie that takes time to develop each scene, without becoming boring. Bearing in mind, that Agent Pistone was infiltrated into a mafia family, while he was married and with children, mental discipline as well as the personal sacrifice he had to perform, are demonstrated in an extraordinary performance developed by Johnny Depp’s remarkable talent. Action scenes, conflicting situations in which the characters are involved, which help to detail the type of nature they possess, as well as the bloody murders that seem taken from a Tarantino movie, are present in this work. there cannot be any doubts that Donnie Brasco is a classic organized crime story movie that should be at a very similar level as it is The Godfather or GoodFellas.
